Old Father Christmas

I love old children's books and was just looking through a particular favorite of mine when I spied a wonderful picture of Old Father Christmas. The book is Robin Ranger's Picture Book and it was published in New York in 1865. Isn't it fascinating to see how this old gentleman turned into our modern day Santa Claus? I wonder if the children of that period loved him as much as the children of today love Santa.

Here's wishing you all a wonderful Christmas filled with cherished memories of old and happy thoughts of Christmas times yet to come.

Christmas Ornaments

I have been busy stitching Christmas ornaments lately and wanted to share a couple of them here. Both are stitched on linen and then aged for a warm, primitive look.

This is a Country Rustic Primitives design by Jenny Hoffman called "Primitive Merry Christmas Cupboard Hanger". I love Jenny's designs and can't wait to stitch more of them.

"Silent Holy Night" is a wonderful freebie pattern from primitivebettys. I made a few little changes but the design is all hers. I really like how it turned out and enjoyed stitching this one a lot.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season so far...I know I am!
