Antique Doll Quilt

I love old doll quilts so thought I would post a little bit about one that I own. It is a simple little one patch that measures approximately 17 inches x 14 inches and is hand tyed instead of quilted. Judging by the fabric, I'm guessing it was most likely made in the 1870s or 1880s but I don't know the actual history of the quilt so can't say for certain.

The back of the quilt consists of four blocks made from some beautiful antique fabrics. The brown madder print is especially wonderful!

There are some amazing madder prints in this quilt with plenty of shirtings and other types of prints mixed in. Only a few fabrics have been used more than once so it truly is a great little study of 19th century calicoes. Someone once upon a time had a lot of scraps to use up!

Happy October!

Happy first day of October! I love Halloween so decided to cross stitch this wonderful "Boo Jack" pattern by primitivebettys and make it into a cupboard hanger. Betty is one of my favorite designers and I especially love her pumpkins so just couldn't resist stitching up this spooky guy.

Don't you just love that face???
