Halloween Is Coming
Every August without fail I start to yearn for the cooler days of autumn. That yearning actually came a lot earlier this year when my first Halloween design for the season was finished way back in May! My little pumpkin witch has been waiting for a few months now to greet you all but here she finally is. Happy Harvest is available now in my Etsy shop as a PDF download or mailed paper pattern. I designed this one as a companion piece to my older Merry Halloween design...hope you like it!
Please stay safe everyone,
Sandy

Wishing you a beautiful day filled with everything that makes you smile.
Happy autumn stitching,

Autumn Sampler
I am excited to show you my latest pattern release called "Autumn Sampler". I actually created this design back in 2011 for the Samplermakers Autumn Stitching Challenge. Our task was to design an autumn themed piece using at least two motifs that were graciously provided by Jennie Lynn Schmitt of Appleseed Prim. I chose to use Jennie Lynn's owl and crow motifs and also adapted her house motif to suit my design a little better. I decided to chart it this year after having several people ask about it...the pattern is now available in my Etsy shop if you'd like to stitch one for yourself.
And speaking of Samplermakers, how cool is it that just as I was working on this old piece from the original group, Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm started a new Samplermakers group on Facebook. I am so happy to see it back and really credit that original autumn challenge way back then for starting me on my primitive designing journey. If you are one Facebook and love samplers, be sure and check it out.
Wishing you all a wonderful week filled with lots of happy stitches!

More Autumn Cross Stitch
I hope you all have been keeping cool during these last days of summer. We have been super hot here in California but I somehow managed to design two more autumn pillow tucks in spite of the heat. "Indian Corn" and "Autumn Acorns" are both available as patterns in my Etsy shop if you would like to stitch one (or both) for yourself.
The finished pieces are also now listed over on Early Work Mercantile where we are having a special Olde Harvest & Halloween Gathering this month. I hope you can drop by and take a peek at all of the beautiful creations. I am always so honored to be selling alongside of so many gifted artisans over on Early Work and this month is no exception.
Wishing you all a wonderful September and lots of happy stitching,
Sandy

Happy August
I can't believe that August is here already! I'm not sure where this summer has gone but that's ok...Autumn is my favorite time of year and it will be here SOON! Because I am growing a little impatient for pumpkin time to finally arrive, I decided to work on some new pieces for fall in an effort to help speed things along. I think it might actually be working!
I do have one new design ready to show you but more will be coming in the next few weeks. This one is called "Witch's Night"...I hope you like it! It is available over on my Early Work update this month as a finished piece and is also available as a paper pattern in my Etsy shop. I'd be pleased to have you stop by and take a peek if you get the chance.
Wishing you cooler days ahead and...as always...happy stitching!

Autumn Stitching
Happy Sunday to you all! I have been absent from my blog for far too long and do want to apologize. I somehow find myself on Facebook more and more these days and less and less on Blogger. Has anyone else noticed themselves doing the same thing?
I'm having a great stitching summer so far and am currently working on some new projects for fall. Many of you have asked if the autumn pillow tucks I designed last year would ever be available as patterns so I am happy to announce that these are all now ready in my Etsy shop. It's never too early to start stitching pumpkins so here are "Harvest Home", "Pumpkin Patch", and "Halloween Sampler":

I also recently designed a little sampler called "Elizabeth Adams Marking Sampler" that would look perfect mixed in with a bowl of autumn pillow tucks. The pattern for this one is also available in my Etsy shop.
Our weather here in California is sunny and WARM today but I am going to do my best to think about cool autumn days just around the corner...I can't wait!
Happy stitching!

Happy October
October is my favorite month of the year and I am SO happy that it has finally arrived!!! I love everything about this month but one of my very special things to do is to visit a beautiful little town about an hour from my home called Oak Glen. It is an enchanting place filled with tons of apple farms, freshly picked apples and cider donuts galore...yum!!!
Because I love apple season so much, I decided to design an apple themed pillow tuck for my Early Work update this month. It is called "Apple Harvest" and was so much fun to create. I am really enjoying designing these little pinkeeps and hope to offer some of them as patterns either later this year or early next year. I hope you like them, too.
Happy October!

Autumn Stitching
I have been working on some autumn themed projects these past couple of weeks and am not ashamed to admit that this is most definitely my favorite time of year to create. I am stitching away on pumpkins even though our weather is very hot and very dry and definitely not pumpkin weather...I refuse to let our California drought get me down! We even have a few pumpkin vines growing in the garden this year but they are struggling in the heat. I just had to try growing them though, poor things! Thank goodness for California pumpkin patches!!!
One of my recent Halloween finishes is the lovely "Matilda Hornbuckle" by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm. Miss Matilda was so much fun to stitch and is such a character. I love how she turned out!
I hope that you are all keeping cool and stitching on something that makes you smile :)
Happy stitching!

Happy Halloween!
Boo!!! Happy Halloween!!! Here is one of my table displays this year...The pumpkin witch is made by an unknown artist from a pattern I don't recognize but isn't he (she) awesome? The candles are vintage from when I was a little girl and I love them still. Last but not least is my sweet sock kitty made by my friend Julie of My Primitive Heart. He is wonderfully made and will definitely stay out long after Halloween is over.
Can't wait for the trick or treaters to start knocking at my door a bit later tonight...those little ones always look so adorable in their costumes!
Happy Halloween!!!

Happy October!!!
My favorite month of the year is finally here...yippee! Happy October everyone!!! I've been in an autumn stitching kind of mood for quite some time now so wanted to share with you what I've been working on.
I always love stitching Country Rustic Primitive designs and this one is a particular favorite of mine. It is called "Primitive Autumn Thyme Pinkeep" and is just perfect for the season at hand.
Another favorite design of mine is by Primitive Stitchin' and is called "Bountiful Harvest Pillow Tuck".
Lastly is a design by primitivebettys called "Thankful". I've stitched this one more than once...that turkey is just too awesome not to!
These are all listed on my Early Work Mercantile update for the month of October if you'd like to take a peek. There have been several new artists that have recently joined the Early Work site so if you haven't dropped by for a while, you might be pleasantly surprised to see what's new.

My favorite time of the year is officially here! I want to wish you all a very happy autumn filled with cool breezes, warm fires and lots and lots of pumpkins!
Here is a little something I recently stitched for one of my favorite customers. It is a Country Rustic Primitives design called "Autumn Pinkeep" and I think it is just the thing to share on this wonderful first day of fall.

Olde Harvest And Halloween Gathering
I hope you are all having a great Labor Day Weekend! I just updated my Early Work Mercantile page for the month of September with a couple of Halloween pinkeeps and wanted to share them with you here. We are having an Olde Harvest And Halloween Gathering on Early Work this month, so if you get the chance, please stop by and check it out!
For my offerings this month, I stitched a couple of really fun patterns. One is by Stacy Nash called "A Haunting We Will Go Sawdust Pillow" and the other is a wonderful jack o'lantern design by Country Rustic Primitives called "Primitive Black Jack Cupboard Tuck". I hope you like them!
Happy stitching!

It's hard to believe that Halloween will soon be here but I am so ready for it! Would you believe that I still have one surviving pumpkin from last year? I'm hoping he makes it through to Halloween...that will be a first!
Happy stitching!

Early Work Mercantile Time
I'm not quite sure what happened to the month of September but here we are ready to start that wonderfully enchanting month of October and I couldn't be happier! Of course our weather here is not cooperating because it is still really HOT but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that cooler weather is just around the corner. It's hard to decorate for Halloween when it feels like the 4th of July outside but I'm sure giving it a good try! I've already purchased a few pumpkins but of course have many more to buy...they don't call me the crazy pumpkin lady for nothing you know!!!

I've been busy stitching some October themed pieces and have a couple ready to share later tonight on Early Work Mercantile. Both are wool pumpkin pinkeeps of my own design, one features a crow and the other an owl. I hope you like them!

Happy Autumn!
I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful first day of autumn! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and I am so happy it is finally here :) We have an old oak tree in our front yard where the squirrels love to play so I couldn't resist sharing this sweet picture with you. I could watch those silly critters for hours and sometimes do but today my stitching is calling a little too loudly to ignore...I'd better get to it!!!
Autumn blessings to you and yours,
Sandy
