My Duck Decoys

I happily have many primitive treasures scattered throughout my home but have to say that these duck decoys are some of my favorite things of all to display. I only have six but they are very special to me...all are hand carved from wood and most, it not all, are artisan made. I try to forget what these decoys were originally used for but instead like to concentrate on the amazing talent that went into making each one.

This Canvasback duck was carved by Clyde (Cramer???) from Covington, TN. He was my first decoy purchase ever way back in 1986 and is still one of my favorites.

I love this unmarked antique because of his wonderful painted eyes and great patina. He is a real treasure.

This Blue-winged Teal was carved by Will Kirkpatrick sometime in the 1980s. I purchased him directly from the artist and am so very happy that I did!!!

This is an older duck (I think!) and is marked only as Black Duck...I really love his simple charm!!!

Here is a Canvasback drake that was carved by Sam Nelson. I purchased this beauty at the artist's estate sale very near my home!

This is another unmarked antique. He is probably my favorite duck of all...just look at that sweet face!!!

Happy Thursday!
Sandy
