Another Antique Doll Quilt
I am thrilled to say that I am now an official antique doll quilt collector since, as of a few days ago, I currently own a grand total of two! I purchased my latest treasure just last week from eBay and it arrived in the mail on Friday. This one is direct from an estate in Michigan and has been very well taken care of with no rips or tears anywhere. It looks to have been made by a child and, judging by the fabrics used, most likely dates from around 1900. It measures a small 14-1/2 inches by 12-1/2 inches and is entirely hand quilted with wonderful little childlike stitches.
It is backed with a lovely double pink fabric that was also used as a border for the front of the quilt. The binding is done in a solid red cotton and was attached with the sweetest of "learning" stitches. I really love the simplicity of these little treasures and can't wait to find more.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday!
Sandy

What a sweet treasure from the past, beautiful in its simplicity.
What a great quilt! I have a few older doll quilts too. It's a super fun thing to collect. You find them in the most unlikely places!
I love the doll quilt. I have some of that double pink fabric, but this is the first time I have seen it in a quilt.
What a sweet doll quilt. Love that double pink.
Thanks for following my blog.
I'm glad you all like the quilt. The double pink fabric is one of my favorites too so I was very happy that so much of it was used in this little quilt :)
A sweet little quilt to add to your collection! Lucky you! Even though I don't have double pink quilts out anymore that color fabric whether old or new still makes my heart go aflutter!
beautiful creations....bye...Rosy
Now I know who bid against me!!! At least I know it went to a good home. ;-)
